With the countdown to the Glasgow climate conference, COP26, in progress, I have been fine-tuning a musical climate change project that I’ve been developing for some time.
Two of my favourite musicians have now recorded my Song for the Earth and it is ready to go out and speak (sing) for itself. Concert pianist Duncan Honeybourne and bass-baritone Timothy Dickinson agreed to record the song in St Mary's Church, Weymouth, this summer.
This piece encapsulates the Earth’s desperate need and has been inspired by and is dedicated to Sir David Attenborough. Here are some pictures of the recording which was undertaken by sound engineer Alan Crumpler, as well as a chat with the artists over coffee afterwards.
The photos were taken by Norman Hartley who oversaw the project.
